Has the deadline for entries been extended? I thought it closed on the 17th October, but the countdown says there are 16 days left to submit

@carrie-oleary

Hello Carrie-  Yes, we have extended the deadline for the Scary contest by one week.  We had several requests from club members who wanted more time and who also wanted the deadline to be closer to Halloween.  We listened!

@voice-team Thank you. I might come up with something else then. The brain cell could do with some exercise 😜

I'm glad you asked the question, Carrie - I thought I was getting even more forgetful 🤔

And, yes, a great opportunity to create another story - the more brain cell exercise the better and it's a good prompt. Halloween isn't celebrated as much in Australia as in the northern hemisphere but writing about it is lots of fun 🙂

Hello,

Just wondered if anyone can answer a quick question.

I have a piece featuring my child as the protagonist. Can I use a picture of him for the image or would I be better off using something else?

Don't want to breach any potential rules!

TIA

It is perfectly fine for you to use the image you described. It will not break any of our rules, as long as it does not violate any copyright. Our golden rule on Voice.club is that all content on our site must be family friendly.

Our primary goal is a safe environment, which is not available on many Internet platforms. We are committed to this goal, even though it is very difficult to achieve. We hope you, as a mother, appreciate our commitment to our club members and their families!

I have a slight suggestion. Probably not feasible for this competition, and I'm not sure if there's any way of changing this for the future, but any chance that punctuation could be used in Name and Title when submitting a piece? My name doesn't feel right without an apostrophe, and I had to alter a title to remove apostrophes and hyphens.

- Just a thought!

@emily-oleary - We have looked at this issue about the apostrophe character. It is accepted on some areas of our platform, but unfortunately, when submitting a story, the name and title do not allow apostrophes.  This is one small technical limitation that is beyond our control.

@voice-team - I too just had to abandon a title because of the apostrophe.
