As the steamboat engine’s roar gets lost in the open ocean, the gulls’ voices can be heard vividly. It seems that the birds’ destination coincides with mine, so I silently trail them, admiring their enchanting ability to soar the skies.

Not so long later does an island’s canopy come into view, exhibiting its assortment of protruding trees and displaying the various colors of life. When I reach the island, I step onto the sandy beach and allow my soles to absorb the warming feeling of sand sticking onto my feet.

Growing up, I had learned about the tales of Atlantis, the Lost City of Gold, and the Tomb of Genghis Khan. I have thought that the world we know holds great mysteries, mysteries longing to be discovered by the adventurers of humanity. But now, as I step onto this island and see the abundance of trash washed up on the shore, the impending tragedy looming upon humanity becomes transparent: nature will live on only as a tale and not as a tangible existence.

It is for this reason that I have journeyed across the sea to change the future. With the government’s approval, this island will be the first safe haven to fishing and pollution.

Hi, J.L. A warm welcome to the Voice club. Sometimes I lose hope of saving the world from destruction because of the selfishness of the majority. But fortunately, your story shows that there is still hope on that island for fishing and pollution.

I am hoping to read more stories from you.

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
