Greetings – Avatar Megan Schmitz and Avatar Simin Chen

    Welcome to the Club!

Thanks for attending our Musicianship Listening session yesterday. It was a pleasure to meet you and to see new faces. Since I am the Tech Producer, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions about the tech side of things.

    Hey – Avatar Myles Spencer

It was nice to see you back in the Listening session yesterday. You and I seemed to agree that it was quite difficult to recognize the sax in a classical orchestra. When I think of saxophone, in my head I can only hear Lester Young!

Have you had any further thoughts about the saxophone, or about our discussion from yesterday?

Chris,It was nice to be back! Yes it was so difficult to hear the sax in that setting! I play tuba and I’ve been in band since I was in 7th grade, so I’m use to hearing the alto sax in different settings. I was thrilled to discover that you play tuba. WOW. I don’t want to give away any secrets, but next month’s Listening session is a must for any tuba players – hint, hint. Hope to see you there on Saturday May 13th at 5… Read more »

Hello  Annika Joshi So many people are influenced by our music-making, and many times we don’t know anything about it! For example, my composition student  Raphael Mouawad told me a few weeks ago that hearing you play that Chopin Ballade in our first performance contest inspired him to get more involved in studying Chopin. His studies have made a big difference in what he is currently writing. Thanks for your sharing last… Read more »

I’m so happy to hear that Raphael enjoyed it! I love the Ballade as well, and I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to share it with everyone. It’s been a pleasure to hear Raphael’s comments during the listening sessions – he has an amazing talent, and I am glad to be a part of his journey!

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
