Shepherds of the Worlds
We are the farmers. The galaxies are our fields. We reap. We gather. We sow. It has been our calling for millions of years. We are nurturers. Keepers of all life. Shepherds.
We keep a library of the most basic, and most complex, building blocks of all living things. Humanity called these DNA.
You are reborn. We gift you a new planet. Archon.
We teach you language. You learn survival. Your turn to nurture. Be kind. Live well. Love all. Be different than you were before.
We trust you will not break this new world as you broke the old.

Thank you. I hope there is some truth in the story, though I also sometimes wonder if we are deserving of a second chance. We seem to be making an abysmal show of caring for the world we live in now. I really hope that we can change.
The thing is Carrie, the world is broken. There are literally hundreds maybe even thousands of philosophies and even more religions, and we still can not get it right, can we? The flaw it seems is in the DNA – our make up…What do you think?

The saddest thing is our planet is already broken. I wish it is not too late for everyone to make a difference to save our planet.
Yes it is, and the planet is doing its very best to fight back. Let us hope that the Shepherds know what they are doing when they bring us back from extinction and gift us with a new planet. I’d hate for the humans to destroy Archon too.

Carrie, this is a beautiful story and a very hopeful thought. I’d like to think we were being watched over by such loving, insightful Shepherds. I hope they come soon to make things better. I wish they’d help us heal this beautiful Earth, which was truly a paradise for such a long time. I’m not ready to move to another planet yet.
I hope they do come and sort us out before we wreck it all. It breaks my heart watching the news lately.

Thanks Thompson. I think Archon is a Greek word for a ruler / leader. I just thought it sounded a cool name for a planet.
Carrie, I wonder if humans actually learned their lesson after causing so much damage to earth. This is a lovely story with a very positive and hopeful feel. Well done.

I love the “voice” of the shepherds, Carrie. The short sentences convey wisdom and a hopeful trust.
Thanks Danielle. I do imagine the shepherds having a very serene tone to their voice, but also to be very economical with words, only saying what they feel to be important. I’m quite looking forward to the challenge of narrating this one.
