We are the farmers. The galaxies are our fields. We reap. We gather. We sow. It has been our calling for millions of years. We are nurturers. Keepers of all life. Shepherds.

We keep a library of the most basic, and most complex, building blocks of all living things. Humanity called these DNA.

You are reborn. We gift you a new planet. Archon.

We teach you language. You learn survival. Your turn to nurture. Be kind. Live well. Love all. Be different than you were before.

We trust you will not break this new world as you broke the old.

One of several takes on the “aliens studying/watching earth” sub-theme, this one was comforting and full of hope. How lovely to imagine kindly shepherds giving us a second chance. We hope there is some truth in this story.

The thing is Carrie, the world is broken. There are literally hundreds maybe even thousands of philosophies and even more religions, and we still can not get it right, can we? The flaw it seems is in the DNA – our make up…What do you think?

The saddest thing is our planet is already broken. I wish it is not too late for everyone to make a difference to save our planet.

Carrie, this is a beautiful story and a very hopeful thought. I’d like to think we were being watched over by such loving, insightful Shepherds. I hope they come soon to make things better. I wish they’d help us heal this beautiful Earth, which was truly a paradise for such a long time. I’m not ready to move to another planet yet.

What a wonderful story Carrie. I had to read it over again to understand it better. So much in few words. What is Archon?

Carrie, I wonder if humans actually learned their lesson after causing so much damage to earth. This is a lovely story with a very positive and hopeful feel. Well done.

I love the “voice” of the shepherds, Carrie. The short sentences convey wisdom and a hopeful trust.

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
