Amy sighed. She looked around the hospital room. Uncle Ben looked healthier than ever. Gran updated him on the latest news from home.

“Let’s go to the girls’ room,” whispered Bess. They raced down the passage.

“Let’s switch off the lights!” giggled Amy. She pulled the string hanging from the ceiling. A bell rang. They stared at each other wide-eyed. Footsteps rushed their way.

“Hide, quickly!” said Amy. Amy hid behind the door. Bess pulled her feet up onto the toilet seat.

The footsteps entered. “Is everything all right?” They froze. “No playing in here!”
The footsteps faded.

This sounds like something a couple of bored girls actually could do while visiting a family member in a hospital. I bet they were surprised when they discovered what they had done. A fun read, Marianna.

I feel like I went back to childhood when I read this story, Marianna. Playing, running, and hiding. It’s so nice to be a kid again. A fun read. Good job, Marianna.

Those darned emergency pull cords. I can’t recall just how many false alarms I ran to in a panic during my time as a nurse. And we had to remain cool, calm and collected for every single one, so I feel for the poor nurse in your story. Enjoyable read regardless ?

This happened to my mum when she was in hospital Marianna. She was so embarrassed! You’ve captured the mischievous nature of the two girls really well Marianna. Good job!

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
