In the year 2121, the world is not the same as it was before. In fact, it seemed like it was from a sci-fi movie. Here’s how Earth went back to its natural beauty.

Young 12 year old Danny walked to school wearing his hazmat suit. The temperatures were so hot on Earth, nobody could walk around in regular clothing. Scientists suspected it was because humans 100 years earlier increased fossil fuels, making temperatures go up. Danny knew this because he always asked the same question.

“Why do we have to wear these suits?” He would ask. “Why?”

His teacher would sigh and look at Danny.“Because they did nothing about it. They liked their simple lives and didn’t want to change anything.”

Danny would always sigh and look back at his math but today was different. He spent all night coming up with the perfect solution. So today, he would ask a different question.

“Excuse me?” Danny asked.

“Yes?” The teacher replied.

“Why don’t we try to reverse climate change?” Danny suggested. “Plant more trees, and use wind turbines! Cut off factories that cause air pollution as much as possible! Use something more eco-friendly other than plastic! We must unite to improve the future!”

The teacher and class looked at Danny in silence. Then they cheered. They stopped school and everyone marched to the capitol building and demanded they use their idea.

“If you want a better life, listen to us!” Danny exclaimed to the stubborn officials. “The world could be saved and you don’t care about it!”

The government officials were about to talk when they saw cameras and shocked news reporters.

“Erm…fine.” The administrators stuttered. “We’ll go along with your plan.”

Everyone cheered. They just took the first step towards saving and improving Earth for generations.

Here is a story by one of our youngest members. We think it’s important to hear what the younger generation has to say. Her story is full of faith and innocence, which we could all use a little more of. We know the solutions are not this simple, but that’s what makes fiction beautiful.

When you comment on this story, please be sensitive to this young writer.

Hi Leyla – What a wonderful story from a talented young writer! My favorite line is where the author illustrates the only real solution: “We must unite to improve the future!”.

I’m so amazed at your story, Leyla. It’s nice to hear the younger generation on their stand about climate change. You are a very talented writer, Leyla. A well-written story.

Welcome to Voice.club, Leyla, and thanks for your story. You, and Danny in your story, are right, people need to get activated and put pressure on the politicians. Young people and older people, everybody has to take responsibility for our future.

Hello Leyla, and welcome to our Voice club family. Your story was a nice read. I think Danny represents a lot of young people of today. Today is the Global Climate Strike of Greta Thunberg’s movement Fridays for Future. I haven’t checked yet about the international turnout, but there were supposed to be millions of young people from around the world pouring into the streets to demand action. Danny is not alone!

Welcome to Voice.club, Leyla! I love your story. Saving and improving Earth doesn’t have to be complicated, as you have described. Less talk, more simple action. Plant trees, recycle, re-use, reduce. All things most people can do with no cost and very little effort. Danny was very clever to tell the officials in front of the cameras – it’s funny how ears are opened when the cameras are turned on 🙂 Very well done and I hope we see many more stories from you in the future!

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
