The Unwelcome Guest
Her heart rate gradually returned to normal. She stared at her Mom in disbelief. “I’m not sure who got a bigger fright, you or the poor green grasshopper who dared to leap through the window!”
‘Why Mom screamed like that, is beyond me,’ she thought, as she caught her breath. She noticed Mom no longer had her book in her hand.
They looked everywhere.
“Here it is,” she laughed. “Only you’ll know how you got it all the way across the lounge, to the other side of the bathroom!” Mom’s face slowly regained colour.
“I need coffee,” Mom said.

Even tiny things shock us when they jump out unexpectedly. Like your protagonist I screamed in Costa Rica, when a giant green iguana suddenly appeared. Naturally my husband walked on indifferently sharing the daughter’s view of screaming. Well done, Marianna.
Margarida, thank you for your comment! It made me laugh as I can totally relate. Years ago, we visited a sanctuary where there were butterflies and iguanas everywhere. As I walked past, the giant iguana decided to leap to a branch behind my brother-in-law. I got a huge fright. It was funny though ????
My mum would have reacted exactly the same Marianna! A very relatable story that had me smiling even though I did feel for the mom! Great job!
Linda, I’m glad you enjoyed the story ???? I’m sure I would have screamed too!
Hello, Marianna. It is very relatable. I smile as I think of my same experience as your protagonist. Well done.

Thank you for your comment, Lotchie. I’m glad the story made you smile!
You’re welcome, Marianna.
It’s always the littlest things that make us jump the most. A cute and ‘hoppy’ tale, Marianna.
Thank you, Carrie! That is so true. I would probably react exactly the same as the protagonist ?
