The flooded river that runs through the crocodile farm provided the most recent water input after the storm.
“We cannot just pack up and leave,” she said.
We’ve been watching their royal lifestyle for too long. We’re going,” he replied.
They trudged through the mud and reached the gate.
“Just our luck,” he said, “it’s locked! I’m not going anywhere until they let us in.

“This is Ranger Lara Ironclaw. We discovered two more crocodiles waiting at the gate!”
“Weren’t they all found?”
“We must have counted wrong!”
Did he just wink at the female?puzzled the ranger.

I think crocodiles are wonderful – I love the story, so funny to imagine them just waiting to be let through, and love this background detail you offered us! It’s great how much we can learn through one another’s stories!

See I have been face to face with alligators before, and even held a baby one! But apparently crocodiles are much more aggressive so I certainly don’t feel too keen to test their boundaries either ????

I think they’re beautiful though. So prehistoric looking! And they really are masters of stillness aren’t they?!

How humorous that the crocodiles chose home before freedom! Being British but living in Texas, I cannot say that I have any love for alligators- their cousins. On a river cruise in Costa Rica, we saw many crocodiles just innocently sunbathing. They looked like predatory dinosaurs! Thanks for your funny and informative writing, Marianna.

I love this story, Marianna. What cheeky crocodiles turning up at the gate as if they were escapees but really only looking for a royal lifestyle! That wink gave it all away! Very funny!

Hello, Marianna. Your story is so funny. The crocodile chooses the royal lifestyle over freedom. That’s hilarious. Nice one.

Really enjoyed this story, Marianna. Loved the humour and the cheeky wink at the end when the crocodiles from the wild join those in captivity for an easier lifestyle ????

What a fun story, Marianna, and what a unique take on the prompt! I had to read the story several times to get the full appreciation of the situation, but now it’s one of my favorites of your stories. Great writing!

This was so funny I had to read it twice – I loved the thought of crocodiles being so territorial

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
