Gloves? Check. Mic? Check. Costume? In place. Audience? At the edge of their seats. Stories of the past that entrance the present? Forever held in my memory. And last but not the least, a little bit of faith, along with thy love and mine. For today we will travel, to a time far away from now, long ago, where magicians weren’t the only ones wearing top hats, where the streets were busy, and the children came out to play… I sense a childlike youth in my onlookers tonight, and thus, I oblige.

The set is ready, the screen is a world. The crew is prepared and so are the birds. I wait as the opening acts shine under the spotlight, intrigued by how easily they make their hard work look like talent. A flow that makes you wonder, “Were they this crafty since birth?” But I know who they are, for I see myself in their determination and drive. It’s like looking through a mirror at the past, fitting for tonight’s main theme.

And now it’s my turn to showcase, the stage ready for me, and the ideas that I brainstormed for months finally come to reality. Now all I have to do is breathe life into it, in a way that makes them, the spectators, feel glad that they too, are alive today, and I hope each and every one of them is in the right place, and that this the right time.

There’s one last thing I must do. Believe. And so I pour every bit of my magic, all of it, into my wish. A little secret that’s mine to keep, mine to witness. The one thing which I get to spectate. My very own secret wish.

My favourite part of this engaging story is the way you first set the scene, and then take us into the mind of the performer. I also really love the creatively original use of the theme.

Hello, Sim. Welcome to voice club. Wow. I agree with Preston. I also love how you set the scene. That is perfect. But what I love the most is the last paragraph, when your protagonist says, “There’s one last thing I must do. Believe….” BELIEVE is the magic word for every success. Very well done, Sim. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Sim Kishore, your story seamlessly flowed into the next sentence where I feel like I cannot get enough of your writing! The air of mystery, the magic, and the perspective from behind the scenes was a thoroughly enjoyable read!

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
