After her breakup, Vanessa decided to go on vacation to three places. They were places laced with nature’s beauty and intricate architectural designs. She needed a place to exhale, meditate and commune with nature.

“Are you sure of what you’re about to do? Leave your job for three months?”
“Yes, I am.”

“You might go broke.”
“I don’t mind. I just need an air of relief. See me inside out.”
“Well. It’s OK.”

She had a swell time at her first place of visit. She met new people. She tried different cuisines and delicacies. She learned a new language. She visited notable sites.

It was an entirely different experience in the second place. It was like going through the door into a new world. The features were breathtaking. The architectural designs were magnificent. She had time to meditate. She visited the age-long well called the ‘wishing well’. She was asked to throw in a coin and make a wish. She took a deep breath as she made the wish.

“Lord, I don’t know why it couldn’t work out for both of us. I just needed to leave. Please, help me. I know James is deeply hurt. I wish he would find love in someone else’s arms.”

As the coin fell into the well, tears streamed down her face. She was offered the anthurium flowers at her third place of visit. She knew happiness had come her way.

Even though this is at essence a sad story, there are elements of romance and hope. Well done, Thompson. I had to look up the symbolism of anthurium flowers and this is what I discovered-

Love and Romance – Also called the Heart of Hawaii, the flower reminds us of love and adoration with their heart shape. In Feng Shui, anthuriums are believed to bring luck in relationships.

Hello, Thompson. I am sad that their relationship didn’t work out. But Margarida is right. There is the essence of romance, happiness, and hope. And I am glad to know the symbolism of Anthurium flowers as we have a lot of it here in our garden. Very well done, Thompson.

Thompson, your beautifully crafted heartwrenching story about the post-effects of a breakup then left an alluring and captivating ending that left me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how things would turn out for the main character. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I enjoyed reading your story, Thompson. I particularly liked the idea that although their relationship didn’t work out, she wished him happiness – there was no animosity. The ending has a hopeful feel to it. Great story.

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance.
