I’d followed the instructions exactly, sure I’d beaten the game. Only a bit of silliness. Wasn’t it?

Just before midnight I’d written my name on paper, added a drop of my blood. Lights off, I lit the candle, and placed the paper before my door. I knocked twenty-two times, opened and closed the door and wandered the house to make sure the Midnight Man couldn’t catch me.

Absolutely nothing happened.

Or so I thought.

They said I’d be safe after 3.33am. But they’re wrong.

I can’t get out.

The Midnight Man is here, whispering my name.

My candle goes out…

This is what nightmares are made of- so chilly.

A minute insect flew past me after I finished reading this, giving me the biggest fright!
The tension build-up gave a sense of impending doom. The final two sentences were terrifying!

How creepy is this? As John Travolta once sang ‘I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying’, but not in such a good way, Carrie! The clues were there in the buildup leaving me holding my breath! You didn’t disappoint! Very nicely done!

It really spooked me out when I heard the news. Very sad, she was such a talent.

Witchcraft has a silent approach and the knack of catching one unawares. The witch identifies you and…darkness. Like so many good tales of the supernatural, the finish is disturbing. One realises that it’s not just the candle that has been snuffed out. Or is it?? Nice one, Carrie.

I mean, if that was the guarantee then perhaps I would go looking for the monsters after all ??

Why do my friends need to SignIn to read the post I shared?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
