Sisters in spirit, they chanted and twirled, dancing beneath a midnight sky. They were one with the earth, blades of grass crunching between toes.

As their tempo increased, so did the wind, whipping around them to pebble their flesh, encouraging the fire to crackle and hiss.

Bare arms raised in unison to the Goddess. Five pairs of hands clapped, echoed by the crack of thunder, lightning cleaving the sky in two. Rain crashed down and the sisters laughed, water cooling their sweat slicked skin.

It was in the Earth, Air, Fire and Water, that they felt Spirit embrace them.

I love this, Emily. Your words make me feel the sisters invoking the elements, spirit made the hairs rise on my arms ?. Great story.

Hello, Emily. I really enjoyed it. Talking about the element of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water in a few words was amazing. You manage it perfectly. Well done.

I love this story, Emily. It reminds me of my traditional folklore. Are the sisters, members of a cult? I’m sure It was a rigorous chanting for the water to cool down, “their sweat slicked skin.”

How beautifully you write, Emily! Any story that involves dance captures my attention! I’ve always felt that everyone should dance in the rain! I love how your story brings all the elements to life and that last line is magical. Absolutely perfect!

You have done a great job including and describing the presence of the four elements in your story, Emily! A very lively and haunting story!
I’m wondering about the five pairs of hands, though. Is Spirit the fifth element?

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!
