The Power of Five
Sisters in spirit, they chanted and twirled, dancing beneath a midnight sky. They were one with the earth, blades of grass crunching between toes.
As their tempo increased, so did the wind, whipping around them to pebble their flesh, encouraging the fire to crackle and hiss.
Bare arms raised in unison to the Goddess. Five pairs of hands clapped, echoed by the crack of thunder, lightning cleaving the sky in two. Rain crashed down and the sisters laughed, water cooling their sweat slicked skin.
It was in the Earth, Air, Fire and Water, that they felt Spirit embrace them.

I always think there must be something so freeing about dancing beneath the stars and embracing the elements!
Hello, Emily. I really enjoyed it. Talking about the element of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water in a few words was amazing. You manage it perfectly. Well done.

I think they’d probably refer to themselves as a coven, but yes! I’ve always loved stories like these, women at one with nature, with one another!
How beautifully you write, Emily! Any story that involves dance captures my attention! I’ve always felt that everyone should dance in the rain! I love how your story brings all the elements to life and that last line is magical. Absolutely perfect!

You have done a great job including and describing the presence of the four elements in your story, Emily! A very lively and haunting story!
I’m wondering about the five pairs of hands, though. Is Spirit the fifth element?
Thank you Christer, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And yes, for me Spirit is the fifth element. The closing element I suppose, once you’ve embraced the others, to truly be in touch with yourself and those around you!
