Smile in the Dark
They cannot, must not see me smile.
Why?
Because I am a slave of Darkness and I never smile in light.
When they see my face they realise that all life is short.
Life is sunshine that is brief, and it burns.
Darkness is cool and caressing.
What they do not know is that in the soft comforting blackness I am at home.
In my tunnel there is no light at the end; that is how it should be.
So long as my darkness prevails, my world will live on.
I smile at the prospect.
Because midnight is my world.

Thank you Lotchie. More the vampire I think.
You’re always welcome, Allan.

You’re on the right track, Linda! The answer may well be in the extension, now on the drawing board!!
A great, chilling protagonist who I most certainly wouldn’t fancy meeting down a dark tunnel, Allan. Nicely done
