Goldfinch
You chitter chatter everyday,
I’ve no idea what you say.
Your song to me is like a balm,
My racing mind begins to calm.
You flit and jig so I can see,
Your perch high up there in my tree.

Your garden must be a paradise. We are all lucky to be sharing it with you, through your amazing pictures.
Thank you, Fuji. We get a lot of goldfinch in the garden now and they are a delight to both see and hear. They don’t have a beautiful song like nightingales or warblers, but they sound playful and mischievous, which always makes me smile. Our garden can’t really be described as paradise, but we try to keep it how wildlife will like it ?
So lovely and amazing photo, Carrie. And your poem description makes the photograph more alive. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Wow. This is a very nice photograph and lovely. And the poem description adds more color to it.
Thank you, again ?

We often get goldfinch in the garden Eric, amongst many other birds and beasties, so I’ll often just wander out and take a few snaps. The beauty of digital photography is that you are not limited to the number of shots you can take to get the perfect one. I know with the moths and spiders I have frequently taken 30+ shots just to get the most perfect, or as close to… Read more »
Goldfinches are beautiful animals. In your poem, I especially love the line when you wrote ‘your song to me is like a balm’. I can almost imagine their song as the poem.
