You no longer peep from the kennel, tails wagging, shining brown eyes in unwavering devotion but,
Jasper and April, I know when I see the brightest stars come out at night…
you are still watching over me.

What a beautiful description to write about your beautiful dogs. I have a soft spot for dogs. What breed are they?
Miniature Dachshunds 🙂 When my youngest son was three (he’s now 36) we found an adorable black cross-bred Dachshund in a pet shop and bought her for just $10. I’ve loved them ever since and last year adopted my sixth from a rescue organisation. I miss Jasper and April (and Maudie, Beckie and Princess!) but feel very lucky to have our latest addition, Lily who is completely deaf 🙂
You have beautiful dogs, Sandra. And I love your description too. Yes, you are right. Dogs are sweet like my Blackjack. He is watching over us at night, and watches over me when I am traveling in the forest alone. That’s why I love my dog (Blackjack) so much.
Thank you, Lotchie! These two were father and daughter, and both very loyal and protective. I love your dog’s name – Blackjack 🙂
You’re welcome, Sandra. Blackjack is black and has small legs, that’s why we called him Blackjack.

What a lovely sentiment to go with your picture, Sandra. Pets can be just as special as any other family members and many of us feel their loss just as keenly. So sweet
I’ve been fortunate to have many special pets over the years. Loss is hard but I do treasure the memories. Jasper had a stroke (aged 17) and was put to sleep the day before my son was due to arrive with my then three-year-old grandson from interstate. I knew he’d ask where Jasper was so each night we went outside and found the brightest star to say ‘goodnight’. I think it helped me even more than my grandson ? Thanks, Carrie.
In terms of the $10 Sandra, (what a bargain) I bet she became priceless to the family, and such a big part of it too ?.
Yes, Eric, a real bargain. Our eyes met and it was love at first sight 🙂 I called her Maude because I used to love the TV show Maude staring Bea Arthur. I can still see my youngest son, Pip, sitting in his child-seat in the back of my old car holding her all the way home.
Sandra, wouldn’t it be funny if in the dog world, they had people, ha, ha. One owner, found her/him too disobedient, not house trained. Or, can’t be left alone, tends to get up to mischief, needs lots of toys to keep him occupied. And don’t come back and say -Yes, I married him! Ha, ha.

How cute they are, with those big brown eyes. Lovely photo! I really like dogs, I just feel that they can understand when you are sad and try to make you happier.
