My student Alex Moiseev grew musically by leaps and bounds during his Covid-imposed time at home. Isolation can actually work well for creative people with a passion! Now he’s a Senior National Finalist in the prestigious MTNA Composition Competition. I am delighted to be his mentor and teacher and friend.

Actually, this is a voting security feature. During public voting, only club members can read posts submitted for that contest. Since anyone reading the story is able to vote (click the Like button), we reserve these capabilities to members who SignIn. Before we implemented this security feature, people were voting multiple times and making the public voting process unfair and out of balance. To fix this, our staff finally decided to allow only members who SignIn to read the stories. Membership is free and easy, and ensures our club is safe, secure, and family-friendly!

You must be a great teacher to make this happen, Julie! I know a little bit how hard the competition is within music and how crucial it is for a student to have the right kind of inspiration to keep going. Well done, both of you!
Thank you, Christer. Teaching Alex is such a joy. Not only do I get to share some of the world’s greatest music with him, but I also get to learn more about pre-Putin Russia, since his family comes from Georgia, where his grandmother taught piano at the Conservatory. LIke you and the French girls, these kids change my life!
